Exponential space computation of Gröbner bases Klaus Kühnle

چکیده
Given a polynomial ideal and a term order, there is a unique reduced Grr obner basis and, for each polynomial, a unique normal form, namely the smallest (w.r.t. the term order) polynomial in the same coset. We consider the problem of nding this normal form for any given polynomial, without prior computation of the Grr obner basis. This is done by transforming a representation of the normal form into a system of linear equations and solving this system. Using the ability to nd normal forms, we show how to obtain the Grr obner basis in exponential space.

An Optimal Algorithm for Constructing the Reduced Gröbner Basis of Binomial Ideals, and Applications to Commutative Semigroups
It is known that the reduced Gröbner basis of general polynomial ideals can be computed in exponential space. The algorithm, obtained by Kühnle and Mayr, is, however, based on rather complex parallel computations, and, above that, makes extensive use of the parallel computation thesis. In this paper, we exhibit an exponential space algorithm for generating the reduced Gröbner basis of binomial ...
متن کاملThe complexity of computing the Hilbert polynomial of smooth complex projective varieties
Despite the impressive progress in the development of algebraic algorithms and computer algebra packages, the inherent computational complexity of even the most basic problems in algebraic geometry is still far from being understood. In [5] a systematic study of the inherent complexity for computing algebraic/topological quantities was launched with the goal of characterizing the complexity of ...

We prove a double-exponential upper bound on the degree and on the complexity of constructing a Janet basis of a D-module. This generalizes a well known bound on the complexity of a Gröbner basis of a module over the algebra of polynomials. We would like to emphasize that the obtained bound can not be immediately deduced from the commutative case. Introduction Let A be the Weyl algebra F [X1, ....

INTRODUCTION For an ideal I ⊂ P := k[X 1 ,…,X n ], many algorithms using Gröbner techniques are a direct consequence of the definition itself of Gröbner basis: among them we can list algorithms for computing syzygies, dimension, minimal bases, free resolutions, Hilbert function and other algebro-geometric invariants of an ideal; the explicit knowledge of syzygies allows moreover to compute idea...
